Backseat Driving - EP

Backseat Driving

by Grisecon, Miracle Ohwodiaso

We can move right
We don’t have to try
to shine bright
eyes wide
we can joy ride
rolling through the night

We’ve got spotlights
city heights
helis in the sky
sideshows, street fights, sirens
10-lane freeway
river of ruby lights

Set the nav
cruise control
autopilot’s got us in the comfort zone
and baby we can slide into the backseat
backseat driving

West coast highway
Driving by the sea
windows open, cool breeze
satellite radio’s playing I.G.Y.

With the blood-red sunset
shining in our eyes
we’ve got 2 more hours of daylight
with your hand in mine
the world is flying by

undo your jeans
kick off your shoes so
we can do the freaky things
and no one knows
baby we’ll be riding in the backseat
backseat driving

This collection of tracks focuses on my love of technology and the ideas of the future and combines it with my thoughts about album-oriented-rock, which was played during what I consier the golden age of radio. The best place to listen to that kind of music is on a road trip in a car with a good stereo. And the title track refers to Donald Fagan's "I.G.Y." I wanted to capture the feeling of when you could hear a song like that on the radio.

It feels like we're so close to a breakthrough on many levels with technology and in other areas (such as extraterestrial intelligent life) but we are not... quite... there. We can easily imagine programming the car to drive from San Francisco to L.A., and we would be able to stretch out in the back seat and get freaky, but we're not there yet. Still, it's something to look forward to.
